How to Spruce up Your Garage

Posted on

When you walk through a model home, you notice all of the things that your house is not, which can be a bit frustrating. One area of your house that you may wish looked like a model home is your garage. Although you park your car in your garage and probably use it to store a bunch of things, that doesn't mean that it can't still look really nice. From adding a new floor to having it drywalled, there are a few things that you can do.

Add a New Floor

Having cement flooring in your garage is durable, but it may not look as nice. Luckily, there are a few different flooring options for you to choose from

  • Epoxy Flooring: One of the most popular types of garage flooring is an epoxy flooring that is either sprayed or painted on your flooring over your cement. This type of flooring will help give your garage a streamlined look, and it's fairly affordable. Depending on the look you are going for, it comes in a variety of colors and typically has a speckled finish that looks similar to the flooring that you would see in many car dealership showrooms.
  • Rolls of Flooring: Another option you have is rolls of flooring which will add texture and dimension to your garage. Although it tends to be a bit pricier than epoxy flooring, it will give your garage a unique appearance, and it will even make it so that you can use your garage for other things like working out because it has a bit of cushion in it.

Add Storage

Your garage is the perfect space for you to store things like bikes, holiday decorations, and seasonal clothing, but if you don't have the proper storage solutions, it can just look really messy. For storage, you can either put racks on the ceiling that you can stack bins on or you can have cabinets built into the sides of the garage.

Have It Drywalled and Painted

When your garage is drywalled and painted, it gives off a more finished look. If you don't currently have any drywall, it can also help add some insulation to the space, which can make it a more usable area for things like working out or doing projects. When choosing a paint color, consider choosing something a bright and light color like white or a cool grey to help give the space a more open vibe.
